Word of the day: dumping

Dumping is not something that one person does. It involves multiple people. In the picture below, you see that:

  1. John is not dumping in front of a defender.
  2. John is dumping between two defenders.
  3. John is dumping behind both defenders.
  4. Both defenders are now out of position.
  5. Jose’ has anticipated where John is going to dump.
  6. Jose’ will be there to pick it up quickly.
  7. This ball will be on the ground for about 1 second.
  8. Just awesome!
  9. A 3rd offensive player is ready to receive the ball from the dummy half.
  10. Dummy half will not have to run far with the ball, if at all.

(People say I repeat myself often, so why not continue.)

11. Awesome!

Tuesday, March 26, 2013 (continued)

I thought I would put up a few more photos from Tuesday.

Attention all viewers. In the comments, come up with a caption for this photo. I’ll update it in a few days with the winner.
It looks like Greg’s arm wasn’t long enough.
Al, I think you missed something, or….. Frank hasn’t been out much lately and maybe you were just trying to give him a hug show him how much you missed him. FIT
Imagine a thought bubble sitting right above Jose’ head… “Wow, I actually threw a good pass. I think Frank can catch this one.”

Here are the rest of the photos.

It took a little while, but we had an excellent turnout tonight in Farmer’s Branch.

Next week, ask Dodge and Jose to show you the new warmup routines. These pirouettes were stunning. They really need to do a better job of marketing their skills.
I’m not sure who they were looking at. There were no women playing touch tonight.
Is that a new martial arts technique?
Dodge, did you enjoy that as much as it appears?

Hope to see everyone next Tuesday.

It appears that everyone did move to McCree park this past Sunday. Below is a writeup from Terry.

================

Only 10 turned up for touch at McCree on Sunday, it was windy but we had a great run. Katelyn had a lot of fun diving at every opportunity and ended up covered in mud. Such a dirty girl.

Since it was raining this past Sunday, I thought I would give you a reminder from July of last year. Playing touch rugby in Dallas, TX on July 15, 2012.

Sunday March 3, 2013

Killer turnout today! A new record with 29 people in attendance.

Apologies to Justin. I was initially introduced as Josh, I and struggle to call him by his proper name. I will try to do better.

Note:

Next weekend daylight savings time is kicking in. Move that clock ahead at 2am. You don’t want to be an hour late for touch on Sunday. Well, everyone except Manny. He is already excused. In the fall, he forgot to move his clock back one hour and was early to touch on Sunday. If he shows up an hour late, his life will once again be in balance.

Now on to some photos of days gone by…

It looks like Joe and Heidi laughing about Joe’s recent duress at being in charge of touch. Touch rugby in Dallas, TX on February 4, 2007.

Now on to photos from Sunday.

I have a challenge for everyone… In all of the photos from this Sunday, how many photos are there where Dodge is jumping in the air?

All he needs are some flashlights and signal flares, and he could signal a rescue helicopter. Playing touch rugby in Dallas, TX on March 03, 2013.

Here are some photos from this past Sunday.

Sunday February 24, 2013

It sounds like everyone had a great time at touch on Sunday. I heard the following quotes:

Quote #1:

“Kudos to Manny and his wife. We had 36 people show up for a great game.
Then back to Manny’s for some grilled beef tenderloin filets,
twice baked potatoes and an awesome double chocolate stout home brew beer.
Oh and great company!

Bloody awesome day. Thanks guys and girls.”  –Terry

Quote #2:

“I had a blast on and off the field. But, Manny, you need to get
a bigger hot tub.

Great day,  thanks everyone!”  –Nate

Well, if you read it on the internet, it has to be true!

I couldn’t be there, so I will enlighten everyone with pictures of touch from days past.

Ssshhhhh, don’t tell anyone. But, I think Joe has the ball. Touch rugby in Dallas on February 4, 2007.
